Shannon was born and raised in the Central Virginia area. She became acquainted with the Spanish language when it was offered in her first year of high school. She finished her high school education through an American Homeschooling Program which enabled her to engage in another passion – volunteer work. Immediately after finishing high school, she worked full-time for eight years helping the Latino community in her area, including providing interpretation services at legal and medical appointments.
In 2016, she helped to open an Immigration Service Office in Roanoke. She has seen first-hand the confusion and stress the immigration process can cause, especially when ventured alone. She is delighted to have a part in helping people navigate through this process and strongly believes everyone should be treated with respect and dignity.
Shannon has two young daughters and is passionate about being very involved in their lives. She hopes to raise them believing that we are all inter-connected. When we help the people in our community succeed, she believes we are essentially helping ourselves as well. She is passionate about being a part of the change she wants to see in the world. Shannon desires to see every human thrive and live a life they love. Her hopes and dreams are to never stop loving, learning, growing and bettering herself as a person.
